Out the frying pan, back into the flames
Feels like a lifetime when it happened days shy of merely one month ago. Reeling from the rampage caused from Katrina, along comes another potentially catastrophic storm with threats of more Southern discomfort along the Gulf Coast. Hurricane Rita gained traction from Gulf of Mexico waters (does anyone still think global warming is mere scientific smoke blown up their ass?!) and has now been upgraded to a category 5 with winds approaching 175 mph. Texas has now echoed its neighbor in Louisiana by being declared a "state of emergency" by the President. Galveston, sea level areas of Corpus Christi and Houston have already been placed under evacuation, while an already weakened New Orleans remains smack dab in harm's way yet again.
May mercy be spared on the residents and natives with friends, family and loved ones in the danger zone. There's been enough heartache to last countless lifetimes in abundance. Stay safe out there. The countdown to November 30th is on.
