It's so hard to say goodbye... to a pioneer

Another day, another icon lost. John H. Johnson was a trailblazer not only to our community and in publishing circles, but the world as a whole –
PERIOD. His determination to see us depicted in a positive way as a counterpoint to what was available in the mainstream revolutionized how we could invision
ourselves. What Black family didn't have a back issue of
Ebony on their coffee tables? Who can deny thumbing through
Jet while on line at the supermarket? How long was it before M.A.C., Maybelline, Prescriptives & Cover Girl decided to throw their hats into to the ring for a more realistic shade selection of cosmetics when Fashion Fair already laid the groundwork years ahead? Men with his sense of vision only come around once in a generation if you're lucky. There's a long list of entrepreneurs who owe a great debt of gratitude to the inroads that were made thanks to Mr. Johnson. Farewell to a legend.
